Stats Can says: Birth Rates on the Rise

Statistics Canada reported a 3.7% increase in the number of births from 2006- 2007, the fifth consecutive annual increase. While this still isn't enough to curb Canada's aging population, it is noteworthy. It follows the trend in other countries, including the UK and Australia. The majority of these births were born to women aged 30 - 34 in BC, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec. All the details on the Stats Can website.

Not only does this baby boom statistic explain the number of strollers and waddling women we see all over town, it also helps to explain the growing maternity and baby products industry. The array of available products and styles and colours is overwhelming for the parent-to-be.

And just when you think they've thought of everything, there's a new invention or an upgrade to an existing product that makes you think, "oh, isn't that interesting?". No doubt the manufacturers are hoping they'll all become "must haves"! Some of the baby and kid products that have made us do a double-take so far (we're sure there are more to come!):

Until the Spring,
