Networking = Pay it Forward

As a small business owner, I’m told that the key to a successful business is to “get out there and network”. And that is definitely true. I’ve also learned that networking isn’t what I thought it was; it’s highly misunderstood. Networking is about helping others, not about selling yourself. Each new person in my network gets a little piece of information about me, but more importantly, I get a little piece of information about them. And when I am able to think of just the right person this new contact should meet, voila! A new connection is born. As these connections grow, so do our networks. Treat everyone like a star because you never know where the connection will lead you. Call it what you will: What goes around comes around. Good karma. Pay it forward.

My network is your network,
